New Lubricant Range: Galp E-Motion

With technological advancements in the automotive industry, hybrid and electric vehicles are increasingly on the road. These vehicles represent a significant change from traditional internal combustion vehicles, not only in terms of energy efficiency and environmental impact, but also in their maintenance requirements. To keep up with this trend, Galp has just launched the Galp E-Motion Range, specifically designed for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.

Engine Lubricants: Galp Formula e-Motion 0W16 / 0W20 / 5W30 Fully synthetic, low-viscosity lubricants, specially developed for use in HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicles) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles) light-duty hybrid vehicle engines. The range's inherent low viscosity enhances fuel economy. Performance suited to protecting combustion engines in demanding start-stop conditions, highlighting their emulsification capabilities. Specially formulated to optimize compatibility with materials used in hybrid equipment.

These lubricants meet the following performance requirements:

Grade SAE0W-160W-205W-30
APISPSPSP
ILSACGF-6BGF-6AGF-6A

There are currently no OEM specifications for hybrid vehicle engines.

Lubricants designed for this type of equipment incorporate the concept of hybrid compatibility: the ability of the lubricant to simultaneously meet the specific requirements of combustion engines and electrified components found in hybrid vehicles (HEV, PHEV, MHEV).

Some key properties are optimized in the development of these lubricants:

  • High Thermal Conduction (Heat Transfer)
  • Reduced Electrical Conductivity (Reduction)
  • High Material Compatibility
  • Low Viscosity – protecting the engine during start-stop cycles (ensuring rapid lubrication) and providing reduced friction and, consequently, fuel economy.

The goal is to optimize the product's compatibility with the needs of equipment that, in addition to the combustion engine, also includes batteries.

Lubricants for DCT Transmissions: Galp Transmatic e-Motion DCT

High-performance, 100% synthetic lubricant specially developed for use in Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCT). It provides fast, smooth gear changes and superior wear protection.

It meets the standards of a wide range of manufacturers, which can be found in the Product Sheet.

Lubricants for CVT Transmissions: Galp Transmatic e-Motion CVT

High-performance, 100% synthetic lubricant developed for Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT).

Developed to maintain transmission efficiency, ensuring continuous, smooth operation of the belt or chain in a CVT transmission.

It provides high metal-to-metal friction coefficients and torque capacity that significantly exceed the anti-shudder requirements of CVT fluids approved by major Japanese and Asian automakers, such as Toyota TC, Nissan NS-2, Honda HMMF, and Mitsubishi SP-III.

Galp Transmatic E-motion CVT is especially recommended for CVTs equipped with slipper-controlled torque converter clutches.

It meets the standards of a wide range of manufacturers, which can be found in the Product Data Sheet.

DOT 4 LV Brake Fluid: Galp Trávia e-motion 4 LV

100% synthetic, low-viscosity, high-performance fluid, specially formulated for hydraulic brakes in hybrid and electric cars and motorcycles.

It is particularly suitable for systems operating under very severe conditions with significant temperature increases,

especially in vehicles equipped with disc brakes, ensuring a good operating safety margin. It meets the requirements associated with the DOT 4 LV specification.

Designed for vehicles with advanced braking systems, including: ABS (Anti-Block System); ESP (Electronic Stability Program); or ESC (Electronic Stability Control).

Compared to conventional DOT 4 fluids, Galp Travia e-motion 4 LV features lower viscosity; higher dry and wet boiling points; and superior thermal stability.

This fluid meets the following performance requirements:

  • SAE J 1704 / J 1703
  • Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard US FMVSS No. 116 DOT 4 LV, DOT 4, and DOT 3
  • ISO 4925 (Classes 3, 4, and 6)

Coolant: Galp Cool e-motion 50%

Long-life coolant/antifreeze, ethylene glycol-based, diluted 50% in distilled water, featuring Organic Additive Technology (OAT) with carboxylates, suitable for use in hybrid and electric vehicles.

Galp Cool e-motion 50% is free of silicates, phosphates, nitrites, amines, and borates.

It offers long-lasting corrosion protection for metal engine components, including aluminum alloys. Ensures efficient protection against freezing and overheating of cooling systems year-round.

It meets the standards of a wide range of manufacturers, which can be found in the Product Data Sheet.

Lubricating Grease: Galp Sygma Plex e-motion 2

High-quality lubricating grease, incorporating a synthetic base oil and a lithium complex soap-type thickener, specifically designed for the lubrication of hybrid and electric vehicles.

This grease contains additives that provide excellent anti-wear and corrosion-inhibiting capabilities. Its formulation also contains polymers that provide adhesion.

It offers excellent thermal stability, high shear resistance, and broad lubrication capacity, properties that are extremely important for this type of vehicle, which may be subjected to high temperatures, high speeds, and constant loads.

This grease meets the following performance requirements:

•         ISO 12924: L-XD (F) DIB2

•         DIN 51502: KPHC2N-40
